Saturday is also a big day for Kid Rock fans as $20 tickets (in all sections) go on sale for shows Aug. 9-11 at DTE Energy Music Theatre In Clarkson. The pricing for the shows is part of a bold, industry-defying idea Rock believes is important for his fans.

The $20 tickets idea has received a lot of support and could end up being a money maker because he’s offering $4 beers at his shows. Tickets for for those shows go on sale 10 a.m. Thursday at all Ticketmaster outlets.

Seger’s shows at The Palace should be memorable one. He recently resurrected his popular song “Like a Rock,” featured for a nearly a decade in Chevy truck commercials, and has performed some new songs at his shows.

Could Seger retire soon? He addressed that topic Wednesday in what a appeared to be a taped interview on a Detroit radio station and gave a rather interesting answer. Seger turns 68 in May and recently recorded a remake of “Who’ll Stop the Rain” with John Fogerty.

Kid Rock admits $20 tickets plan is a risky move; he blasts Michigan Republicans for poor legislation

DETROIT, MI – Kid Rock shared with Rolling Stone Magazine this week that he’s contemplated for years ways defy the music industry and improve it for fans.
Now Kid Rock, a Romeo, Mich. native, has his chance with a bold plan that offers $20 seats – in all sections – for all shows on his 27-city summer tour.

DETROIT, MI – Kid Rock shared with Rolling Stone Magazine this week that he’s contemplated for years ways defy the music industry and improve it for fans.

Now Kid Rock, a Romeo, Mich. native, has his chance with a bold and admittedly risky plan that offers $20 seats – in all sections – for all shows on his 27-city summer tour.

Rock’s explanation in Rolling Stone about why he’s doing this:

“I’ve been meeting with Live Nation CEO Michael Rapino for years, trying to figure out how to fix the concert industry. We’re all so overpaid. It’s ridiculous. People stopped going to concerts because they can’t afford them.”

Kid Rock added that he’s willing to lose money on the tour – it includes shows Aug. 9-11 at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkston – and blasted Michigan Republicans for trying to stop paperless ticketing at events (he really goes off on them in the piece).

Tickets for the Aug. 9-11 shows at DTE Energy Music Theatre go on sale 10 a.m. Saturday. The venue posted the following information on its Facebook page about the ticket sale:

Kid Rock fans, quick update on tickets for his August 9, 10 and 11 shows with ZZ Top that go on sale this Saturday at 10 a.m.. First, in addition to The Palace Ticket Store, the DTE Energy Music Theatre and Meadow Brook Music Festival box offices will also be open Saturday only from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The Palace box office is recommended.

Tickets in all sections will be $20 plus a $3 parking fee (if you buy at a Ticketmaster location, there may be other applicable fees). There is a ticket limit of 6 pavilion and 20 lawn per show and if you buy tickets at The Palace, DTE or Meadow Brook, you can only purchase one show per transaction (trip to the window). Give our box office a call at 248-377-0100 if you have questions.

Would you go see Kid Rock for $20 (plus fees)? What do you think of his plan? Let us know in our comments section.

Kid Rock, Live Nation could recoup $20 tickets plan losses with massive $4 beer sales, expert says

DETROIT, MI – A bold move by Kid Rock and Live Nation to offer $20 tickets in all sections – at all venues – for his summer tour could still end up being a big money maker for both parties.
Pollstar editor Gary BonGiovanni told Yahoo! this week the 27-city tour might lose money on ticket sales (he describes the pricing plan as a “heck of a deal”) but will likely get plenty of cash from beer sales.

“I imagine they’re gonna need to back up the beer trucks to the amphitheaters since the beers are $4,” BonGiovanni told the website.

Kid Rock will perform Aug. 9-11 at DTE Energy Music Theatre in Clarkson. Fans are certainly impressed with his industry-defying move to offer $20 tickets in all sections.

A statement from Kid Rock explaining the move:

“Everyone knows the economy is still hurting people across the country, but I didn’t want that to be a reason why everyone couldn’t get out and enjoy themselves on a summer night. So we’re going to throw the biggest and best party ever, with prices across the board that are reasonable and transparent.

No hidden fees, no gimmicks. We’re not sparing any expense on this tour, we’re going over the top as always, but that doesn’t mean we’re going to ask the fans to pay more. If this works we’re going to play to packed houses of fans who appreciate what we’re doing. If it doesn’t… might be a long summer. But someone has to go out there and fight these high prices out there and change things up, and I’m lucky enough that I can afford to take a pay cut. $20. Best night ever.”

ZZ Top is the opening act for all three of those Metro Detroit shows; tickets go on sale at 10 a.m. Saturday.

DTE Energy Music Theatre released Wednesday the following information about Saturday’s ticket sale on its Facebook page:
